Alex is the writer and director of two award-winning short films and a third which is currently enjoying a successful international and domestic festival run.

Ali & the Ball (2008), was funded by Screen Australia and was selected to screen at the Berlin International Film Festival. In Australia it was awarded Best Short Film at the Sydney Film Festival Dendy Awards, Australia’s most prestigious short film award. It also won Best Director at Flickerfest Film Festival in Sydney and was nominated for an Australian Director’s Guild Award for best short film. Internationally, it won awards at festivals in Merida, Venezuela and Mumbai, India. The film has screened at countless international festivals including Dubai, Canada, Hamburg, Madrid, Venezuela and Cuba. Alex’s received a Best Screenplay Award for his first short film Out on Tiles (2004) at the St Kila Film Festival. Additionally, Alex is an extremely talented Production Designer whose work can be seen in films like The Babadook (dir. Jennifer Kent, 2014) and Wish You Were Here (dir. Kieran Darcy-Smith, 2012).

His latest short film Grace (prod. Kristina Ceyton/ Causeway Films, 2018) has enjoyed a healthy film festival run, earning Best Short Film at the Dublin Independent Film Festival and having screened across the world, with festivals that include: Flickerfest, Amsterdam International Film Festival, Kuku International Film Festival and more. Alex is currently in development on two television series with Casueway Films.
