Costume Designer
Anna Cahill is a Sydney-based Costume Designer whose portfolio extends across short films, television, and feature films.
Most recently, Anna was the Costume Designer on the critically acclaimed box office sensation Talk to Me (dir. Danny & Michael Philippou/ A24, Causeway Films, 2023). After having its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, where it screened in the midnight section, US powerhouse A24 acquired the North American rights. The film went onto screen at SXSW, the Berlin International Film Festival, and had its Australian premiere on the closing night of the 2022 Adelaide film festival to a standing ovation.
After studying Fashion Design at the University of Technology Sydney, Anna refined her skills at London’s Central Saint Martin’s School of Design where she studied costume design. Anna began her career by designing several award-winning short films that gained significant international recognition: BINO (dir. Billie Pleffer, 2011), which one Best Short Film from the international jury at Berlinale; Cannes selected The Guest (dir. Shane Danielson, 2015); Dream Baby (dir. Lucy Gaffy, 2015), which won the AACTA Award for Best Short Fiction; and Bunny New Girl (dir. Natalie Van Den Dungen, 2016), which screened at 110 film festivals around the world and won 15 awards, including Best Family Film at the San Francisco International Film Festival.
Anna made her debut into feature films with the horror comedy, Better Watch Out (dir. Chris Peckover/ Storm Vision Entertainment, 2016), a wickedly dark take on the Home Alone story, starring Olive DeJounge, Dacre Mongomary, Levi Miller and Ed Oxenbould. Anna's other feature credits include, The Pretend One (dir. Tony Prescott/ Screen Australia 2017), and the Stan Original Christmas Ransom (dir. Adele Vuko/ Stan 2022). On the television side, Anna has Costume Designed on Drop Dead Weird (Air Pig Productions/ 7 Two, 2017), Random and Whacky (Ambience Entertainment,2017) and Street Smart (CJZ, 2018).
