Stephen McCallum’s ‘1%’ garners critical acclaim, opens nationwide tomorrow
Cameron’s client director Stephen McCallum’s highly anticipated feature film debut 1%, opens nationwide tomorrow. The film was edited by Cameron’s client Veronika Jenet.
After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, US rights were quickly nabbed by indie-darling A24, and the buzz around the film has been steadily growing due to successful screenings at London Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival and more.
The film follows the heir to the throne of a motorcycle club who must betray his president to save his brother's life.
Liam Dunn from Filmink praised the film, “a gloriously rendered and assured debut feature…1% is a lean, mean, well-oiled genre machine, continuing the Australian cinematic tradition of grim, violent portrayals of toxic masculinity... it is grim, gritty and violent but to avoid the film on those terms is missing the point; we currently live in violent times and genre films can provide that experiential lens through which we can confront the agony, the ecstasy and the lunacy of the world around us.”
1% opens nationwide tomorrow. You can check out the trailer below.
