Cameron Creswell Welcomes Stage & Screen Director Leticia Cáceres
Cameron’s is pleased to welcome stage and screen director Leticia Cáceres to the agency.
Leticia Cáceres is one of Australia’s most highly regarded directors for theatre who is now making the transition to screen. Leticia has directed some of Australia’s most acclaimed and awarded theatre productions, including The Drover’s Wife, Going Down and Barbara and the Camp Dogs.
Having directed theatre for over fifteen years, Leticia has become one of the most in-demand directors of new writing. A brief overview of Leticia’s credits clearly illustrates the breadth of her experience and talent. Selected credits include The House of Bernarda Alba, Birdland (Winner of Best Direction Green Room Award) and Random (nominated for three Green Room Awards). In 2017, Leticia received Helpmann and Sydney Theatre Awards for Best Direction of a Play for The Drover’s Wife, which also won Best Production at both ceremonies.
As a filmmaker, her first short film Wild, won the London Film Awards’ ‘Golden Lion - Best First Time Director’. In 2018 Wild was also selected for screening at the Setting Sun Film Festival and won the ‘Next Gen Student Film Award’ at the inaugural Melbourne Women in Film Festival.
Leticia’s second film The True History of Billie the Kid won ‘Best Student Film’ at the London Independent Film Awards and was screened at The Melbourne International Film Festival for which Leticia was selected to be a part of MIFF’S 2018 Accelorator Program. The True History of Billie the Kid has won four international film awards in total, including Best Student Film at the London Independent Film Awards, it has also screened at numerous international film festivals.
Leticia is a recipient of Screen Australia’s Gender Matters grant - Brilliant Careers. In 2018 she was also selected to participate in Screen Australia’s Developing the Developer initiative.
Leticia recently completed an attachment on Princess Pictures/Channel10’s TV series How to Stay Married by Peter Helliar, with comedy TV director Natalie Bailey and with Peter Helliar. In 2019 Leticia is also set to complete an attachment with Leah Purcell on the much-anticipated feature film The Drover’s Wife.
Leticia is currently adapting the hit stage comedy Going Down with multi award-winning writer Michele Lee into a web series with Executive Producer, Amanda Higgs.
