Cameron's Welcomes Writer Michael Costi

Cameron’s is excited to announce that writer Michael Costi, has joined the agency.

Michael has been writing plays and short films. He has a passion for classic texts, bringing nuance and fresh relevance to his adaptations. His original work explores contemporary life and generational battles with funny, snappy dialogue, well observed characters and strong conceits.

Michael has been granted a place in Belvoir Street Theatre’s Philip Parsons Writers’ Lab for 2020. In 2019 his play Two Twenty Somethings Decide Never To Be Stressed About Anything Ever Again. Ever. was produced by Theatreworks as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival and will presented in March this year at Kings Cross Theatre. In 2018, Michael’s musical, The Overcoat, an adaptation of Gogol’s short story, premiered as part of Belvoir’s inaugural 25A season. In the same year, he wrote the narration for Karakoram: A Medieval Musical Journey produced by the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra. The narration was adapted from a journal of William of Rubruck 1253 AD and performed by David Wenham.

In 2016 Michael co-wrote Visiting Hours, an immersive theatre experience at Kings Cross Theatre commissioned by Vivid Festival and its success meant it returned the following year. Michael has written short films including The Horrific Murder of Grigori Rasputin produced by the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) and Daisy, Ferguson and Ursula which was awarded the UTS People’s Choice Award (Golden Eye Awards).
