Writer-Director Del Kathryn Barton's Debut Feature Film, Puff, to Shoot This Year

Cameron’s client, acclaimed visual artist, writer, and director Del Kathryn Barton spoke to The Sydney Morning Herald this week about her debut feature film, Puff.

The film, which was co-written with another Cameron’s client Huna Amweero, follows a twelve-year-old girl who, after witnessing a violent sexual assault, is left catatonic with shock and struggles to make sense of what she saw. She retreats into her imagination where Puff, the shimmering magic dragon who has been her childhood companion, allows her to express her rage and ultimately find renewal.

Screen Australia announced this week that Puff was one of ten projects receiving production funding.

Despite industry-wide shutdowns, Del and the creative team are confident the production will get underway this year; “And yes, of course, these challenging, uncertain events we’re all facing have impacted to some extent. But we are at this stage confident that we’ll be shooting by the end of the year, which is great” said Del.

Kristina Ceyton and Samantha Jenning of Causeway Films are producing.
