Upcoming Screenings: Alastair Newton Brown and Patricia Cornelius
Alastair Newton Brown’s debut feature Here Be Dragons is screening at Sydney’s Dendy Cinemas Newtown tonight at 6:30pm and then Melbourne’s LIDO Cinemas on 18 December at 6:30pm. Alastair wrote, directed and produced the film in Serbia. Both screenings will be followed with a Q&A between Alastair and star actor Nathan Clark Sapsford. Here Be Dragons is a captivating and taut drama/thriller where a UN war crimes tribunal investigator goes to Belgrade to hunt a man whom everybody thought was dead. You can watch the trailer here.
A film adaption of Patricia Cornelius’ play of the same name SHIT will screen at Melbourne’s Cinema Nova on 15 December at 7pm. The film will also be followed by a Q&A with screenwriter Patricia Cornelius and directors Susie Dee & Trudy Hellier. Over one long night of incarceration in a holding cell, Billy, Bobby and Sam reveal their stories, of a lifetime of violence, of abuse, of institutionalisation, told with unsentimental, sometimes comical, often gut-wrenching insight. They’ve done something terrible, but all they’ve got to do is keep it together, to keep their mouths zipped. You can watch the trailer here.
