Editor Nick Fenton Joins the Agency!

We are delighted to announce that Nick Fenton is now a part of the agency.

Nick Fenton is a multi-award-winning editor who works with a strong belief that screen arts are a universal language that can be utilised as a force for good. This has led him to work with a vast array of esteemed filmmakers, artists, and musicians from all over the world.

Most recently, Nick cut The Order (AGC Studios, 2024), an upcoming feature directed by frequent collaborator Justin Kurzel, which premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival and stars Jude Law, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan and Jurnee Smollet. This marks their fourth film working together, their other projects being The True History of the Kelly Gang (Porchlight Films/ Daybreak Pictures, 2019), for which Nick was nominated for Best Editing in Film at both the 2020 AACTA and Australia Screen Editor (ASE): Ellie Awards; the critically acclaimed Nitram (Goodthing Productions/ Stan, 2021) and documentary Ellis Park (Goodthing Productions, 2024). For his work on Nitram, Nick won both the 2021 AACTA and ASE: Ellie Awards for Best Editing in Film, and the feature itself won a further 17 awards and received 23 nominations both locally and internationally.

Throughout his career Nick has edited a variety of features, some of which are Chris Cooke’s cult classic One for The Road; Richard Ayoade’s debut film Submarine (co-editor. Chris Dickens); his subsequent film The Double (co-editor Chris Dickens); A Private War (dir. Matthew Heineman); Escape from Pretoria (dir. Francis Annan) and the adaptation of Ian McEwan’s On Chesil Beach (dir. Dominic Cooke), which stars Saoirse Ronan and Billy Howle. Nick has also cut two narrative films with longtime collaborator Clio Barnard, including the successful 2013 feature The Selfish Giant (BFI, Film4, Moonspun Films) and Dark River (Film4) in 2017. Their partnership began with Nick cutting Clio’s early experimental short films and installation pieces. In 2018, Nick won the British Independent Film Award for Best Editing for his work on Bart Layton’s American Animals (Film4/ RAW, 2017) and was also nominated at the Film Independent Spirit Awards in 2019. In 2022, Nick cut the anticipated comedy Wizards! (dir. David Michôd/ See Saw/ Plan B/ A24), which stars Pete Davidson, Naomi Scott, Sean Harris and Orlando Bloom.

Nick is also a highly experienced documentary editor. In 2005, he won a BAFTA Award for Best Editing for his work on The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off (dir. Patrick Collerton/ YIPP Films/ Channel 4, 2004). From there he worked on Taking Liberties and Starsuckers (dir. Chris Atkins); All Tomorrow’s Parties (dir. Jonathan Caouette); The Arbor (dir. Clio Barnard) and On a Knife Edge (dir. Jeremy Williams). In 2022, he cut Waad Alkateab’s We Dare to Dream (Violet Films/ Studio Gebbia), which follows the Olympic Refugee Team in Tokyo.

Nick’s television credits span across both comedy and drama. He edited the cult comedy series Nathan Barley by director Christopher Morris (Channel 4/Talkback, 2004); 6 episodes of the second season of Night Night (dir. Dewi Humphreys/ Baby Cow/ BBC, 2005); episodes 1, 4 & 6 on the 2020 adaptation of A Suitable Boy, which was directed the prolific Mira Nair for Netflix and BBC and most recently, he was an editor on season 1 of Wolf Like Me (dir. Abe Forsythe/ Made Up Stories/ Peacock/ Stan, 2021), alongside Drew Thompson. Nick was one of the three editors on the ambitious 6-part documentary series, Exodus: Our Journey to Europe (dir. James Bluemel/ BBC, 2016), which garnered various accolades – including Best Factual Series at the 2017 BAFTA TV Awards and marked a BAFTA nomination and win at the Royal Television Society in Best Editing for Nick and the team.
