Cameron's Welcomes Writer Rae Perks to the Agency
Cameron’s is delighted to welcome playwright and screenwriter Rae Perks to the agency.
Rae (FKA Rachel) is a playwright and screenwriter. They’re obsessed with genre, love making audiences laugh, and strive passionately to better depict queer and trans people.
They are currently under commission at the Malthouse Theatre and are developing a number of original TV projects. They’re also attached to TV projects being developed through Fremantle Media and Chemical Media and are a regular participant in writer’s rooms.
Rae was the inaugural winner of Malthouse Theatre's Playwriting Innovation award. Their web series concept Unicorn Hunters was one of six projects funded as part of SBS’s Digital Originals and their play Hydra was shortlisted for the Queensland Premier's Drama Award in 2021. Rae has also won the Melbourne Festival Discovery Award and the Dame Joan Sutherland Award.
They have a long-standing theatre-making partnership with Bridget Balodis under the moniker 'Double Water Sign'. Together, they have made Moral Panic (Darebin Arts, 2018), Ground Control (Next Wave Festival 2016), and Angry Sexx (Melbourne Fringe 2014). Between them, these works have been nominated for 9 Green Room Awards.
Rae regularly works as a note-taker in writer’s workshops for companies including Werner Films, Matchbox, Dreamchaser, Wooden Horse and Aquarius.
