Writer Matt Cameron Joins the Agency

We are thrilled to welcome writer Matt Cameron to the agency.

Matt Cameron is a prolific Australian writer whose career spans television, film, and theatre. He has collaborated with some of the most prominent creators in the industry, producing acclaimed works that have resonated both locally and internationally.

Most recently, Matt co-created the Stan original series Prosper (Lingo Pictures), which aired in 2024, and wrote multiple episodes. In 2023, he co-created and wrote for The Clearing (Wooden Horse), a psychological thriller for Disney+ that won the Screen Producers Australia Award for Miniseries Production of the Year. The series also earned nominations at the AACTA Awards and Logie Awards, including in both Best Miniseries categories.

Matt is closely associated with the long running Jack Irish series (Easy Tiger/ ABC/ Acorn TV), serving as co-creator, executive producer, and writer across multiple seasons and telemovies, which were consistently nominated for Best Drama Series at the AACTA Awards. His ability to craft political drama is reflected in his work on the Secret City (Matchbox Pictures, 2019) for Foxtel/Netflix, of which he wrote six episodes across both seasons, and acted as showrunner on the second series. Matt’s other work includes Sunshine (Easy Tiger/ Carver Films/ SBS, 2017), which won an AACTA Award for Best Miniseries and an AWGIE for Original Miniseries and Safe Harbour (Matchbox Productions/ SBS, 2018), which was awarded the International Emmy Award for Best TV Movie or Mini-Series.

Matt is also an accomplished playwright, with his works performed widely across Australia and internationally. Some of his plays include Hinterland (2004), Ruby Moon (2003), Man the Balloon (2001), Tear from a Glass Eye (1998), Footprints on Water (1997) and Mr. Melancholy (1995). Ruby Moon remains one of his most well-known plays, regularly studied and performed in schools and theatres. His writing awards include the ANPC/New Dramatists Award, the Wal Cherry Play of the Year Award and the British Council New International Playwriting Award.

Currently, Matt’s feature film writing debut Poor Boy is in development for production in the UK. It is an adaptation of his play of the same name. He also has multiple projects on his slate that are in various stages of development with local production companies.
