Costume Designer
Nina Edwards is an APDG accredited, New Zealand born costume designer who has been working in Australia consistently since 1989 across both film and television.
Last year, Nina worked on Good Cop/ Bad Cop (Jungle/Future Shack Entertainment) which had its premiere in March 2025. Prior to that, she designed Four Years Later (SBS), a series that follows the turbulent marriage of two young Indian lovers, through two timelines, two worlds, told through dual perspectives.
Nina’s other television credits include season 2 of Bump (Roadshow Rough Diamond), Bali 2002 (dirs. Peter Andrikidis, Katrina Irawati Graham, Screentime, Endemol Shine/ Stan) and Last Days of the Space Age (dirs. Bharat Nalluri, Rachel Ward, Princess Pictures/ Disney+). Her work on the series, While The Men Are Away (SBS/Arcadia), earned her an AACTA nomination for Best Costume Design in Television.
In 2021 she designed costumes on the second series of Frayed (dirs. Shaun Wilson & Jennifer Leacey/ Guesswork Television/ ABC) after having designed the successful first series for which she received a 2019 AACTA Award nomination for Best Costume Design in Television. Nina’s other television credits include the series Between Two Worlds (dir. Kriv Senders/ Screentime, 2019), Chosen (dir. Tony Tilse/ Playmaker Media, 2017), a Mandarin language action thriller for Chinese streaming platform iQITY, and Hyde & Seek (dir. Peter Andrikidis, 2016), for Matchbox Productions and the Nine Network. In 2015 Nina worked on The Code (dir. Shawn Seet) for Playmaker Media which was nominated for 10 AACTA Awards.
On the feature film side, Nina designed costume on The Garden of Evening Mists (dir. Tom Shu Yu Lin, HBO Asia), which won Best Makeup and Costume Design at Taiwan’s 56th Golden Horse Awards in 2019. In 2017 she worked on Standing Up for Sunny (dir. Steve Vidler), a feature film produced by See Pictures starring RJ Mitte of Breaking Bad. Nina was the recipient of the ‘Festival International de Moulins Cinema and Costume – Audience Award for Feature Film 2009’ for her work on director Andrew Lancaster’s Accidents Happen.
Nina completed a Diploma at the New Zealand College of Fashion Design, briefly working in fashion before moving into design for film and television. Across her career, Nina has worked alongside an impressive array of filmmakers, including Daina Reed, Shawn Seet, Rowan Wood, Peter Duncan, Andrew Lancaster, Garth Davis, and Shirley Barrett.
Most recently, Nina designed Alex Proyas’ R.U.R. (Arclight Films), based on the famous 1920 play.
