Christie Whelan Browne is one of Australia’s most versatile stage and screen performers.

Christie is an award-winning actress who has been delighting audiences since her iconic debut in Grease – The Arena Spectacular and it’s UK tour. Her indelible performances include roles in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Drowsy Chaperone and Britney Spears: The Cabaret.

Christie has been described by The Australian as “immaculate and untouchable”; by The Age as “magnificent”; and by the Herald Sun as “a musical and cabaret talent not to be missed”.

Christie is a mainstay of the Melbourne Theatre Company performing in productions of As You Like It, Twelfth Night, An Ideal Husband, Born Yesterday, and The Odd Couple; for The Ambassador Group she played the role of Gen in Eddie Perfect’s play The Beast. For The Production Company Christie graced the stage in Jerry’s Girls, The Producers, Anything Goes, Sugar, The Boyfriend, 42nd Street and memorably as Lina Lamont in Singin’ in The Rain. Other musical theatre roles include Kira in Xanadu, Liz Hurley in Shane Warne the Musical, Tanya Degano in STC / Global Creatures’ Muriel’s Wedding The Musical (Sydney Theatre Award nomination) and April in Company (Sydney Theatre Award for Best Newcomer). In 2025 Christie will be part of the Australian Premiere cast of the Tony Award Winning Musical Kimberly Akimbo for STCSA/MTC.

Christie was most recently seen on screen in the BINGE Original series Colin from Accounts. Her television credits across all major networks include Spreadsheet, three seasons of Mustangs FC, Neighbours, True Story with Hamish and Andy, Get Krack!n, both seasons of The Wrong Girl, House Husbands, Wonderland, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and Offspring. Christie also featured in popular mini-series Peter Allen – Not the Boy Next Door as Olivia Newton-John, Never Tear Us Apart: The Untold Story of INXS, and Paper Giants: Magazine Wars. Film credits include M4M, I Love You Too, Spin Out and That’s Not My Dog.

Christie is the star of the one-woman shows Life in Plastic, Britney Spears: The Cabaret, Show People, and the Green Room Award Winning Vigil, all of which debuted at The Adelaide Cabaret Festival and toured to great acclaim across Australia and internationally.

In the TV variety world Christie is a popular guest and performer having featured as a regular cast member for four seasons of Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell. As herself, she has delivered numerous spellbinding performances for Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight, and has appeared on Kinne Tonight, MSO’s Perfect End To 2020, multiple episodes of Spicks & Specks, and in 2023 was a Grand Finalist on Dancing with The Stars.
