Rahul Khanna was born and raised in Bombay, India and is a second-generation actor, the son of the late Bollywood matinee idol, producer and politician, Vinod Khanna.
After studying at the famed Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and the School of Visual Arts in New York, Rahul began his career as a VJ (video jockey) with MTV Asia where he enjoyed immense popularity, an enormous fan following across Asia and consistently glowing media coverage.
Rahul made his feature film debut as the romantic lead in Canadian director, Deepa Mehta’s Earth. His performance garnered him the prestigious Filmfare award for Best Debut (2000) among others. He then also headlined Deepa Mehta’s hit musical, Bollywood/Hollywood.
Rahul's mainstream Bollywood films include Elaan, Raqeeb, Dil Kabaddi, Love Aaj Kal, Wake Up Sid and Lost. He also appeared in the Indian adaptation of the hit TV show, 24.
His international credits include The Emperor's Club with Kevin Kline, the Showtime TV film 3AM starring Danny Glover and a recurring role as a suave double agent on the hit FX spy drama, The Americans.
Rahul was also seen on stage in the New York production of the hit West-End play, East is East. Rahul’s performance as Tariq, the rebellious son of a Pakistani father and British mother, won him acclaim from audiences and critics, alike.
Rahul has hosted numerous events like the GQ (India) Men of the Year Awards, The AD (Architectural Digest) India Awards, Naomi Campbell's Fashion for Relief show at Mumbai Fashion Week, the Hello! Magazine Hall of Fame Awards, the IIFA Awards, the Miss India pageant, the Screen Awards, the Stardust Awards, the Miss India Worldwide pageant, and the Teacher’s (Whisky) Achievement Awards.
