'Hotel Mumbai' Praised for its Authenticity - Congratulations to Steven Jones-Evans and Anna Borghesi
Director Anthony Maras’s debut feature film, Hotel Mumbai had its world premiere last week at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film which is based on the real-life terrorist attacks that hit Mumbai in November 2008, stars Armie hammer, Dev Patel and Jason Issacs. It was praised for its meticulous eye for detail in production design and costume design, created by Cameron's clients Steven Jones-Evans and Anna Borghesi respectively.
The Hollywood Reporter: “Craft contributions, including uncanny set design by Steven Jones-Evans (The Railway Man) and kinetic cinematography by Nick Remy Matthews (also making his feature debut), enhance the idea that these are real events — or at least as close to reality as a movie can be.”
Peter Debruge from Variety: “As the movie goes on, the many narrative strands seem to converge, taking excellent advantage of the spaces Maras’ production design team so meticulously dressed to suggest the Taj hotel.”
Hotel Mumbai will have its Australian premiere as the opening night film at the Adelaide Film Festival, and you can still grab tickets here.
Icon is planning a January 10 release for Australia.
