Patricia Cornelius wins the Windham-Campbell Prize
Congratulations to playwright Patricia Cornelius who today was announced as one of the winners of the Windham-Campbell prizes.
The Windham-Campbell prizes are global English-language awards that call attention to literary achievement and provide writers with the opportunity to focus on their work independent of financial concerns. Prizewinners receive an unrestricted grant of $165,000 USD.
The judges’ notes praise Patricia’s work saying it channels the power of resisting received literary tradition in order to open up a space where the lives of characters on the margins can become vessels of universal truths.
