Shannon Murphy and David Michôd bound for Venice with Babyteeth and The King

Congratulations to our clients Shannon Murphy and David Michôd who will have their world premieres of Babyteeth and The King at the 76th Venice Film Festival.

Babyteeth will compete in main competition with Shannon as one of only two female directors featured in this years program.

Adapted by Rita Kalnejais from her Belvoir Theatre play, Babyteeth stars Ben Mendelsohn, Essie Davis and Eliza Scanlen as a family grappling with their daughters ailing health as she develops a relationship with her drug dealer. Babyteeth is Shannon’s first feature after television credits that include On The Ropes, Love Child and Rake.

David will showcase The King out of competition. An adaptation of several Shakespeare plays, the film stars Timothée Chalamet, Joel Edgerton, Robert Pattinson, Ben Mendelsohn and Lily-Rose Depp. David co-wrote the screenplay with Edgerton.

The 76th Venice Film Festival opens Wednesday, 28th August and will close Saturday, 7th September.
