Noni Hazlehurst to Publish Highly Anticipated Memoir
Celebrated film, theatre and television actor Noni Hazlehurst has announced that she will publish her long-awaited memoir with HarperCollins Publishers in 2022. Through her many award-winning roles on stage and screen, as well as her memorable public speaking and lifelong advocacy for children’s welfare, Noni has played a cherished part in millions of Australian lives spanning several generations.
She will weave her story around a new adventure – her long-held dream of living in a cottage in rural France.
On why the time is right to write her memoir, Hazlehurst said – ‘The dream of a little cottage in France where I can experience a new culture and write to my heart’s content has haunted me for years. I couldn’t have done it before – for personal and professional reasons, but now that my sons are grown, it’s time for me to stop talking about it and just do it!
Noni’s manager, Sue Muggleton (Cameron’s Management) said – ‘I am so delighted that after so many years of patiently waiting for the right time to write her story, Noni has finally been dealt both the freedom and her dream location to escape to and make it a reality”. Literary agent Jeanne Ryckmans (Cameron’s Management) said: ‘This book was hotly contested at auction and demonstrates the high regard Noni is held in by so many. It’s an exciting opportunity to finally bring her into print”.
On the opportunity to publish Hazlehurst’s story, HarperCollins’ Publisher Catherine Milne said, ‘Noni Hazlehurst is an iconic Australian. A household name, our best-loved actor, she’s graced our screens and theatres with her presence for over forty years – and won our hearts and our respect in the process. She’s also a natural-born storyteller, and her memoir, woven through the story of her buying a cottage in France and spending every opportunity there, will be beautiful, brave, thoughtful, funny, warm and wise.
