Emma Freeman's 'Stateless' Acquired by Netflix
Netflix has acquired the global rights for the ABC drama ‘Stateless’ directed by Emma Freeman and Jocelyn Moorehouse, after its world premiere in Berlin earlier this week.
Starring and executive-produced by Cate Blanchett, ‘Stateless’ will have its Australian premiere on ABC on March 1, with Netflix launching the six-part drama later in the year.
‘Stateless’ follows four people caught up in an immigration system that severely impacts their lives, with each character confronting issues around protection and border control in a different way. All four lives intersect at an immigration detention centre in the middle of the Australian desert.
‘Stateless’ was co-created by Blanchett, Tony Ayres and Elise McCredie. The series stars Yvonne Strahovski, Domenic West, Jai Courtney, Asher Keddie, and Fayssal Bazzi.
