Congratulations to the Winners of the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards 2023
It was a big night last night for Cameron’s clients at the 2023 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards, held in the beautiful Mitchell Reading Room of the NSW State Library.
Del Kathryn Barton and Huna Amweero were awarded the $30,000 Betty Roland Prize for Scriptwriting for their script Blaze, produced last year by Causeway Films. The film had its World Premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival (2022) and its Australian Premiere at the Sydney Film Festival (2022) to rapturous acclaim, and follows a young girl who, after witnessing a violent sexual assault, retreats into her imagination where a shimmering magic dragon who has been her childhood companion, allows her to express her rage and ultimately find renewal.
Dylan Van Den Berg was awarded the Nick Enright Prize for Playwrighting for his play Whitefella Yella Tree. The play was produced last year at the Griffin Theatre Company. It was Dylan’s second time winning the $30,000 prize. He originally won in 2021 for his play Milk produced by the Street Theatre . Both plays are published by Currency Press.
