Congratulations to Abbie-Lee Lewis on the Opening of ‘An Ox Stand On My Tongue’ at Belvoir's 25A
Congratulations to Cameron’s client Abbie-Lee Lewis on the opening of An Ox Stand On My Tongue at Belvoir St Theatre’s 25A. Lewis made her directing debut last year with Bruce Pasco’s Cutter and Coot for the Moogahlin Performing Arts, NSW. After her most recently acclaimed performance in Belvoir’s Scenes From the Climate Era, Lewis has returned to direct Jane Montgomery Griffiths’ An Ox Stand On My Tongue staring Jessica Bentley and Angela Nica Sullen.
An Ox Stand On My Tongue asks what if the infamous femme fatale and vilified husband murderer had actually once believed in an idealised domestic dream? What compelled them to justify – or to suppress – the experiences they had endured. This play is about two women who try – who really do try – to be well-behaved, to be the perfect housewife, but who just happen to end up becoming the world’s most notorious adulterer and husband killing matricide.
Running now at Belvoir’s 25A Downstairs Theatre till 8 October 2023.
