Director Ben Lawrence’s Documentary 'Ghosthunter' Nabs a DAF Nomination for Best Australian Documentary and a Prime Sydney Film Festival Slot
Congratulations to Cameron’s client Writer/Director Ben Lawrence on the recent wave of success for his documentary-feature debut Ghosthunter. The Australian premiere of Ghosthunter will take place at the Sydney Film Festival in the highly regarded Documentary program and this has been followed up with the news of the DAF nominating the feature in Documentary Australia Foundation Award for Australian Documentary.
The documentary follows Western Sydney security guard and part-time ghosthunter Jason who has spent two decades searching for his missing father. As Jason’s search to reconcile his fractured memories progresses he becomes embroiled with a police investigation, forcing him to confront his past in order reclaim his future. “As humans, we have to forget in order to survive, but we have this burning desire to remember what happened. It’s this struggle that lies at the heart of the film,” said the director, Ben Lawrence.
Lawrence is already an award-winning filmmaker for his work in short film and commercials and looks to continue his success in feature-length productions.
