Playwright and Screenwriter Lewis Treston Joins The Agency

Cameron’s is thrilled to announce that award-winning playwright and screenwriter Lewis Treston has joined the agency.

This year his queer Jane Austen pastiche play Hubris & Humiliation premiered at Sydney Theatre Company to sell out performances and rave reviews. In November, his queer teen romcom IRL is set to premiere at Brisbane’s La Boîte theatre. He is also currently developing a couple of screen projects.

His other produced plays include: an adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband (La Boîte 2022), Follow Me Home (ATYP 2021), Meat Eaters (NIDA 2019) and Reagan Kelly (NIDA 2015). All of Lewis’ plays have been published by Playlab Theatre.

He is the recipient of two major playwriting awards. In 2021 his play Hubris & Humiliation received the Australian Theatre Festival NYC New Play Award and was presented as a moved-reading in Manhattan. In 2016, his kooky Gold Coast dark comedy Hot Tub won the Patrick White Playwright’s Award. He has also been shortlisted for the Philip Parsons Fellowship and has been twice nominated for a Matilda Award.

He is a graduate from QUT, NIDA and has recently completed his MPhil at UQ for his research into camp humour in Australian theatre.
