Cameron's Welcomes Writer-Director Eddie Diamandi

Cameron’s is pleased to welcome writer-director, Eddie Diamndi, to the agency.

After completing high school, Eddie was selected into the Actors College of Theatre and Television in Sydney, where he studied performance for stage and screen for 3 years. During the course, Eddie realised that his passion lied not in just performance, but in the direction and visual storytelling. Eddie applied for the Victorian College of The Arts and was accepted into to the School of Film and Television. Eddie’s VCA graduating film, Rigor Mortis, received international acclaim; the film, which was written, directed and edited by Eddie, went onto screen at various domestic and international film festivals. Festival highlights include Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Palm Springs International Film Festival, New Orleans International Film Festival and Rochester ImageOut Festival.  The Victorian College of the Arts awarded Eddie the outstanding achievement in directing award for Rigor Mortis.

Since graduating, Eddie has written and directed a number of short films, which have screened in film festivals around the world. In 2016, Eddies’ poignant and moving short, Emily, was part of the MIFF Accelerator Lab, it was also part of the Official Selection for the St. Kilda Film Festival and CinefestOz Film Festival. Eddie received the AMP Tomorrow Maker Award - it was awarded to Emily to fund the production of the film.

In 2018 Eddie made the Screen Australia funded short film, The Wake, while several of his screenplays were shortlisted by Sundance for their annual Screenwriters Lab. Recently, Eddie was selected by Film Victoria to complete a two-month directing attachment on the AMC and Point Grey Pictures US TV series Preacher (dir. Iain B. Macdonald, 2019).

He is currently developing multiple long-form projects independently and with support from Screen Australia. Both his television project, Pierrot, and feature project, Svetlana, have been shortlisted by Sundance in their Screenwriters Lab; Pierrot for two consecutive years (2017 & 2018) and Svetlana for three (2018, 2019, 2020) - while the latter has also received Screen Australia funding.

Eddie spent his early childhood touring and performing around the world with his father for The Great Moscow Circus. Eddie started performing at the age of 2. His father, a famous Russian clown, Sasha Diamandi, introduced him to comedy and storytelling. In 1999 whilst on a tour in Australia, his parents decided to move to Sydney. His experiences with the circus, travelling, performing and observing combine to create a unique voice in the Australian film landscape.
